Privacy Policy

Functimer (“the app”) is built by All Things Yellow BV, Belgium, and published for iOS and Android. We designed it to know as little about you as possible. This policy covers both versions of the app and this website.

What we don’t do

• No accounts. No sign-up.
• No advertising, no ad identifiers, no cross-app tracking.
• We never sell or share your data with data brokers.

Workout parsing

When you use photo, voice, or text input, the photo or workout text is sent over an encrypted connection to our parsing service, which uses a third-party AI provider (OpenRouter, Inc.) to convert it into a timer program. The content is processed to answer that single request and is not used to train models, not linked to your identity, and not stored by us. Do not photograph anything you wouldn’t want processed by a cloud service.

Speech is turned into text by the speech recognition built into your phone before anything is sent to us — we only ever receive the resulting text, never an audio recording. On iOS this is Apple’s speech recognition; on Android it is the recognition service supplied with your device (usually Google’s), which, depending on your device and settings, may process the audio on the device or on its provider’s servers under that provider’s privacy policy.

Crash reports and diagnostics

The app sends crash reports and basic performance diagnostics to Sentry (Functional Software, Inc.), hosted in the EU, so we can find and fix bugs. A report contains the error, the app version, and the device model and OS version. It does not contain your workouts, your photos, or your name, and we do not use it to build a profile of you.

What stays on your device

• Your workouts, presets, settings, and workout log
• Your free-parse usage counter

This data lives only in the app’s own storage. On Android, it may be included in the system backup that Android makes to your Google account, if you have device backup switched on; that copy is controlled by you through your Google account settings.

Subscriptions

Functimer Pro is sold through the app store you installed from — Apple’s App Store on iOS, Google Play Billing on Android. The store processes the payment; we receive no name, address, email, or card details, only whether your subscription is active. Apple’s and Google’s privacy policies govern the transaction. Manage or cancel in your App Store or Play Store subscription settings.

Permissions

• Camera — only to photograph a workout when you choose photo input.
• Microphone and speech recognition — only while you dictate a workout.
• Photo library — only when you pick an existing photo.
• Notifications (Android) — only to keep the running timer and its beeps alive with the screen off.

Each is requested the first time you use that feature and can be revoked at any time in your device settings.

How long we keep data

• Photos and workout text sent for parsing: processed in memory to answer that one request and then discarded. We do not store them. Our parsing service records only the time and success status of a request, never its content.
• Crash reports and diagnostics: kept by Sentry for at most 90 days, then deleted automatically.
• Everything else — your workouts, log, settings, and usage counter — stays on your device for as long as the app is installed. We hold no copy.

We operate no user accounts and no user database, so there is no profile of you on our servers to age or expire.

Deleting your data

Data on your device: uninstalling Functimer deletes your workouts, log, settings, and usage counter along with it. You can also clear the app’s storage in your device settings without uninstalling. On Android, if the data was copied into your Google account backup, remove it there through Google’s backup settings.

Data we hold: because there are no accounts, we have nothing filed under your name to delete. The only data that reaches us is a parsing request (discarded immediately, as described above) and crash reports (auto-deleted within 90 days).

If you would still like us to erase a crash report, or you want confirmation that we hold nothing about you, email privacy@functimer.com. We respond within 30 days. This is also the address for the access, correction, objection, and portability rights you have under the GDPR; you may also lodge a complaint with the Belgian Data Protection Authority.

Children

Functimer is not directed at children. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children.

This website

functimer.com uses Cloudflare Web Analytics, a cookieless, privacy-first statistics service. It sets no cookies, stores nothing on your device, and does not fingerprint or track you across sites — we only see aggregate numbers such as page views and country. That’s why you don’t see a cookie banner here.
